- If I claim, how much compensation money will I receive?
-
- Compensation awards vary from person to person. A similar injury to two different people may result in different amounts of compensation because injuries affect people in different ways. Having examined the circumstances surrounding your accident one of our expert solicitors will be in a position to provide more detailed guidelines of what you may receive if your claim is successful. Ultimately the level of compensation depends on the medical evidence. We can only predict the amount when we receive the independent medical report. We use this medical evidence to form the basis of your claim. When we receive an independent medical report we will then give you our informed opinion of how much your claim is worth.
Damages may be awarded for pain and suffering both past and future, wages loss both past and future loss of amenities of life and all reasonably incurred expenses and losses.

- Will I have to attend a medical?
-
- Yes. In order to value your claim you will be examined by an independent medical expert who will then provide a report with a prognosis in respect of your injuries. Once we have this we can then value your claim.
- How long will my personal injury claim take to settle?
-
- We will be able to advise you at the outset about the length of time it will take to settle your claim. In general, lower value claims can be settled in a matter of months. More serious injury claims will take longer.
- Will I have to attend Court?
-
- The vast majority of injury claims are settled without the need to attend court.
- My accident happened some time ago, can I still claim?
-
- All claims for personal injury have a limitation period within which the injured person can claim. In general, at the time of the accident, if you are over 18 years of age you have 3 years in which to lodge your claim in Court. However, there are many exceptions to this and depending on circumstances the three-year period can sometimes start some time after the actual accident. In certain circumstances, the limitation period is less than three years. If at the time of the accident you were under the age of 18, the 3 year period starts from your 18th birthday. At Curtis Law Solicitors we recommend that you start your claim as soon as possible.
- My accident happened at work, can my employer dismiss me if I pursue a claim against them?
-
- No. All employers are required to hold an insurance policy that covers their staff if they are injured at work. It is your employer's insurance company that pay for your compensation claim and not your employer. If your employer dismisses you for pursuing a claim this may be deemed as an unfair dismissal. Most employers are fully aware of this and are unlikely to discriminate against you.
- Will I have to attend a solicitor's office?
-
- At Curtis Law Solicitors we understand that you want the minimum of fuss. That's why all correspondence is done simply by post, telephone and email. There is usually no need for you to attend our office.
- Is there lots of paperwork involved?
